In a revolutionary move, the interim government of Punjab has introduced an innovative online platform for the acquisition of learner’s driving licenses. This strategic decision aims to enhance public convenience and streamline the licensing procedure, addressing the significant surge in license applications. Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the online facility on a recent Sunday, emphasizing the accessibility of the service through various platforms.

Applying Online for a Learner’s License:

To avail of this new and efficient service, applicants can follow a straightforward process outlined below:

1. Create an Account:
   To initiate the application process, users need to register on the DLIMS (Driving License Issuance and Management System) licensing website. This step involves providing basic information and creating a secure account for future reference.
2. Fill out the Application Form:
   Once registered, applicants must complete the online application form, providing accurate details required for the learner’s license. This step ensures that the information provided aligns with the necessary criteria.
3. Upload Documents:
   To validate the application, applicants are required to upload essential documents. These include a recent photograph of the applicant, as well as scanned copies of both the front and back of the original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
4. Generate Payment Slip ID and Payment:
   After successfully submitting the application and supporting documents, applicants need to generate a payment slip ID. The license fee can then be paid through various channels such as ATMs, online banking, or mobile banking, adding a layer of flexibility to the payment process.

The fee, previously set at Rs. 60, has now been revised to Rs. 1000, marking a significant 1566% increase. However, citizens have the opportunity to benefit from the current rate until December 31. From January 1, 2024, a revised fee structure will come into effect, reflecting the updated costs associated with obtaining a learner’s license.
