Apple Will Permanently Delete Photos in July — How to Keep Yours Safe

Apple announced it will permanently do away with the My Photo Stream album next month. The feature automatically stores pictures taken in the last 30 days.

A single image possesses immense value, equivalent to a multitude of words, provided it remains safeguarded and undisturbed.

Apple recently announced its decision to permanently discontinue the My Photo Stream album, with the elimination scheduled for next month. This feature automatically stores photographs captured within the past 30 days.

As a consequence of the impending shutdown, My Photo Stream ceased uploading images on June 26. Additionally, the entire contents of the album will be eradicated once the service terminates on July 26.

Nevertheless, any pictures uploaded to My Photo Stream prior to June 26 will persist in iCloud for 30 days from their upload date, and they will be accessible on devices where My Photo Stream is enabled.

To ensure the preservation of your pictures, it is imperative to navigate to the My Photo Stream album within your camera roll and save the images either to your device or to iCloud.

According to Apple’s support page, “The photos in My Photo Stream are already stored on at least one of your devices, so as long as you have the device with your originals, you won’t lose any photos as part of this process.”

If a desired photo is not yet present in your library on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, it is crucial to save it to the library on that particular device.

If you are already an iCloud user, no further action is required.

With the discontinuation of My Photo Stream, iCloud emerges as Apple’s preferred solution for securely storing all your photos and videos across multiple devices, effectively consolidating them in one location.

The pricing for iCloud storage is as follows: 99 cents for 50 GB, $2.99 for 200 GB, and $9.99 for 2 terabytes.

Alternatively, the expert recommends users to back up their photos using the Amazon Photos app or through their Google accounts.
